If 100 people read this, I predict that out of that 100, no more than five take every step in this list. They will be the winners!!
Step 1 – Read Laura Vestenan’s Book*. It’s $24.95 and will give you a great map to help you start picking up non-loan, mobile notary work.
Step 2 – After that (or if you can’t afford the $24.95 right now), read this article (Targeting the Medical Field) that I wrote for the AAN years ago. Do what it says. It WORKS. This is MY system. Make fliers, put on your walking shoes, and approach EVERY doctor’s office in your area.
Don’t forget to go to every pharmacy, hospital, ambulance service, optometrist, dentist, etc., too.
Step 3 – Now, read this article (Is Being a Signing Agent for You?) that I wrote for the AAN years ago. Do what it says and market yourself!
Step 4 - After you cover all the above, go to every single place you do business, remind them you are their customer, and leave business cards. Get the word out. Get the word out. Get the word out.
Step 5 - Read this article (On my blog – Notaries, Do This And You Will Find Work) and do what it says. This is to help you with loan work.
Step 6 – As soon as you have the $24.95, purchase and read Laura Vestenan’s book.
Step 7 – (a) Do all of these things and ASK QUESTIONS in the Texas group or on the Texas Notary Professionals and Friends to clarify what you do not understand.
Step 7 – (b) Okay, there are NINE steps but it’s a proven fact in marketing that seven or 13 just sounds better! Step 7(b) is to announce on the group wall that you have completed every step and talk about when you got your first appointment.
Step 7 – (c) Get the training you need. I personally recommend that you (1) Take Phyllis Traylor’s training course ASAP!! (2) if you are not in Texas, the NNA provides great training, as well as the American Society of Notaries.
IN CLOSING: I invite Texas notaries to join our Facebook group.
The Texas Notary Professionals FacebookGroup was established to develop skills in notaries in Texas who want to be professionals.
It isn’t to judge new people.
I promise that as long I’m the owner of the group, it will be civil. When it isn’t, I’ll shut it down.
No one has been rude in our group. Let me know if you feel otherwise. IM me on Facebook and I will handle it. Recently, I was told that some of you are afraid to speak up in our group. Again, IM me on Facebook and we'll set up a time to talk about it. I care about you or I wouldn't be here!
